Set Up the Homepage

Here's a step that trips up a lot of first-time WordPress users: by default, WordPress shows your latest blog post as the homepage, not a fixed page. So even after a perfect import, if you visit your site right after, you might see a mostly-empty blog feed instead of the kit's homepage — the page exists, WordPress just isn't pointing to it yet.

1. Go to Settings → Reading in your WordPress dashboard.

2. Under "Your homepage displays," select A static page.

3. In the Homepage dropdown, select the page imported by your kit (its name usually includes the kit name, e.g. "Elecfix – Homepage" — check your Pages list if you're not sure which one it is).

4. Click Save Changes.

5. Visit your site's homepage in a new tab (not a logged-in preview) to confirm the correct page is showing to an actual visitor.
